About Alfalfa Plant:

Binomial name - Medicago sativa

Alfalfa, also called lucerne, Purple Medic, Trefoil, Buffalo herb and Chilean clover.
Alfalfa lives from three to twelve years, depending on variety and climate. It resembles clover with clusters of small purple flowers.
A mature plant may have from 5 to 25 stems, which usually reaches a height of 15-25 inches (38-63 cm). It also has a deep root system sometimes stretching to 4.5 metres. This makes it very resilient, especially to droughts.
Alfalfa is a minor herb in traditional Chinese medicine. It is considered to be bitter in taste and have a neutral nature.
